Velvet Underground - Squeeze 1973

...or Squeeze some money out of Velvet Underground.
This album is the unholy grail in the Velvet Underground history, no original members, well, Moe Tucker was a member, but not included in the recording sessions. Doug Yule, a member of the band since the self titled record, Velvet Underground, where he replaced John Cale. Back to Squeeze, its not all bad, some good songs, some not so good,I think uneven is a good word for it. Its fair to say it's not a Velvet Underground album, in my opinion it lacks the Velvet magic(and most, if not all of its members), so it's a Doug Yule solo record under a more familiar band name. The album was produced by Doug Yule with some help from Ian Paice, known from Deep Purple, he also did the drums.

Oh well, the wikipedia article is quite good and you should read it.

I hope this one will finally get reissued, it would be cool to have it in the collection without spending shitloads of money on ebay.

Enjoy and remember, it may be written Velvet Underground, but its pronounced Doug Yule.

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - The Legendary A&M Sessions 65/66

Five songs, short and sweet, from the great Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band. This is what they sounded like in the very beginning, before they went totally avangard. Great fuzzy blues with awesome vocals. If you are new to Beefheart, your next one to check out should be Safe as Milk, then Mirror Man Sessions and then the great and crazy Trout Mask Replica. They are easily available everywere. They are all well worth the money.

Removing 666

Got this on in the comment section:

"Dag E. Salsten said...

Hi Judas Eukaryote

Please remove your link to download the 666 album. Download is illegal and violates rules of copyright. I am manager of 666 and the man behind 666 LIVE albums on the label NO NOISE REDUCTION.

Mr Salsten."

The funny thing is that I was writing some stuff for my next 666 post, guess thats never gonna happen. Sure, its illegal to share copyrighted material, but at least I'm not selling a cdr with xeroxed covers and shit(or other mediocre bootlegs). I do not make any money on this, and those who do make money on bootlegs, they are the true assholes. Also, I hope that people who like what they hear do the right thing, and BUY the music. If they can find it that is. I hope you didn't download any of "my" stuff or any other criminal mp3 on the internet, I dont want you to loose any sleep at night.

If Mr. Manager reads this, I hope he can give us all a hint to where we can buy his stuff. The best would be if he made some new cd's, mastered, pressed and printed professionally (vinyl or silver cd). One disc, one track of each song, tree cd's with only ten songs on repeat is just to much. Then it could be worth something.

To bad we all cant be friends and enjoy music of all sorts, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Remember kids, buy music, support the scene and feed starving musicians and their managers.

NO NOISE RETARDATION :)

D.R. Hooker Band - Armageddon

Yup. I'm back. I think. And with me this time is D.R. Hooker and band, this is the follow up album to the masterpiece The Truth. This record was released in 1979, but the recordings are from the time around when The Truth was recorded and released. The back cover says, WARNING: DEMO TAPES & ROUGH MIXES, should you save your precious ears? No no no, this is still good stuff, well worth listening too. The music itself is pretty much in the same vein in as The Truth, with some prog moves and crazy moog sounds. Thats it for now, maybe there will be a new post later this week.. Btw, the original press is very expensive, but cheap represses can be easily found at ebay.

And, this isn't my rip, big thanks to the original ripper.

Hooked again(?)
