D.R. Hooker Band - Armageddon

Yup. I'm back. I think. And with me this time is D.R. Hooker and band, this is the follow up album to the masterpiece The Truth. This record was released in 1979, but the recordings are from the time around when The Truth was recorded and released. The back cover says, WARNING: DEMO TAPES & ROUGH MIXES, should you save your precious ears? No no no, this is still good stuff, well worth listening too. The music itself is pretty much in the same vein in as The Truth, with some prog moves and crazy moog sounds. Thats it for now, maybe there will be a new post later this week.. Btw, the original press is very expensive, but cheap represses can be easily found at ebay.

And, this isn't my rip, big thanks to the original ripper.

Hooked again(?)

D.R. Hooker - The Truth

The Truth is.... this album is awesome, its actually one of my favorite personal discoveries from the the last couple of years. Originally released as a private pressing in 1972, never picked up by a record company and quickly forgotten, until some record collectors got their hands on this psychedelic masterpiece. It got traded and the records underground fame started to grow. Later it was rereleased on cd and vinyl and its now fairly easy to get hold of, check ebay. The music is groovy psychedelic rock with some great melodies and the fantastic voice of D.R Hooker. The album ends with a message played backwards: "Life is a mystery, of course it's true. Look for the answer, recorded clues". It seems like this is a "solo record" with hired musicians, D.R. Hooker released a follow up album with a new lineup in 1974, called Armageddon. If you are not able to enjoy the song Forge Your Own Chains, call a doctor, its something wrong with you.

D.R. Hooker passed away in january last year.

Btw, if you have D.R. Hooker - Rain on the Moon (1987) and want to share, please leave me a message in the commentfield. Thanks.

Enjoy
